Broncho bats come alive in run rule of Northwest Missouri

MARYVILLE, Mo. – The University of Central Oklahoma baseball team won the second game of its series against Northwest Missouri State Saturday by a 10-0 run rule in seven innings.

It was a night-and-day difference from the first game, when the Bronchos were beat 2-0 and only managed four hits. Saturday, UCO pelted nine hits to get its 10 runs. The Bronchos scored three in the fifth, three in the sixth, and four runs in the seventh.

"We need to do what we did today on a regular basis," UCO head coach John Martin said. "We know we're capable of not only hitting that well, but doing it well enough to put up that many runs."

Jon Kamies led the charge for the Bronchos Saturday, going 4-for-4 from the plate, with two doubles and six RBIs. Caleb Peters had two hits and two RBIs on the day, and scored twice thanks to Kamies.

Korey Floyd, Dayne Sommer, and Kyle Miskovsky also added one hit each for Central, while Miskovsky also knocked in two RBIs.

Tyler Culver got the start for the Bronchos Saturday, and dazzled in seven innings of shutout baseball. Culver struck out three and only allowed two hits and one walk on the day to improve to 2-1 on the season.

The Bronchos improved to 23-16-1 on the season and 13-15 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.
