UCO drops midweek game in Tahlequah

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The University of Central Oklahoma baseball team lost 10-0 to Northeastern State on Tuesday in a seven-inning run rule in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play.

The Bronchos fell to 21-15-1 overall and 11-14 on the season.

"We have a week off before playing NSU again and we need to figure some things out," UCO head coach John Martin said. "NSU is a good team, but we should never be beat like we were today. That's unacceptable."

UCO only got three hits Tuesday against Northeastern, coming from Anthony Alvarez, Dayne Sommer, and Justin Brown. Sommer and Korey Floyd also drew walks to reach base, but only Brown's double gave the Bronchos a runner in scoring position on the day.

J.J. Rogers got the start for Central Oklahoma Tuesday and lasted 2 1/3, giving up four hits and two runs. Rogers, who is now 1-2 on the season, also gave up two walks.

J.D. Cameron, Greg Hyde, Gibson Russ, Tabor Charles, and Jaycee Parker all came on in relief work. Cameron's 3 1/3 was the longest a Broncho stayed on the mound. Cameron also recorded two strikeouts, the only for Central on the day.

The Bronchos have one week off before hosting Northeastern State on Tuesday, April 18 at 3 p.m. at Wendell Simmons Field. UCO will make a trip to Northwest Missouri State the following weekend before wrapping up its three-game season series with NSU on Wednesday, April 26.
