UCO Wins Again At Southwest Baptist

BOLIVAR, Mo. (Feb. 25) – Justin Brown and Caleb Peters had three hits apiece to lead a 15-hit assault that carried Central Oklahoma past Southwest Baptist 13-7 here Saturday afternoon.

Brown went 3-for-3 with two runs and two runs batted in, while Peters had a 3-for-4 day with a pair of doubles in sparking an offensive attack that saw the Bronchos belt eight doubles on the day.  T.J. Sparr and Korey Floyd added two hits each.

UCO improved to 9-1 on the season and 2-0 in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play.  The Bronchos go for a sweep of the three-game series at 1 p.m. Sunday.

"We had a good day and the plate and got contributions from a lot of different guys," head coach John Martin said.  "Hopefully we can keep it up tomorrow and finish off the series right."

UCO grabbed control early, erupting for six runs in the second inning.  Floyd and Dayne Sommer had RBI doubles in that frame, while Brown and Jake Dyer added run-scoring singles and Brenton Washausen a sacrifice fly.

The Bronchos added four runs in the fifth to turn a 7-2 advantage into a big 11-2 cushion as Brown had an RBI single and Kyle Miskovsky a run-scoring double.

The Bearcats scored a pair of runs in the sixth to make it 11-4, but UCO counted with RBI doubles by Peters and Washausen in the seven to push its lead to 13-4 and coasted in from there.

Six pitchers saw action for the Bronchos, with Tyler Culver earning the win with three innings of work.  Connor Sweeney also threw three innings for UCO.
