KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its football players of the week Monday and UCO's Stephan Robinson was named Defensive Player of the Week following his dominating performance in a Week 7 win over Nebraska-Kearney.

Robinson proved to be the difference maker, when his 98-yard interception return for a touchdown gave the Bronchos a 17-6 first-half lead over Kearney, rather than letting Kearney take a lead with just 20 seconds left in the half. UCO won 27-13.

"Stephan is a really athletic kid," UCO head football coach Nick Bobeck said. "He played receiver for us last year, and you can tell he is comfortable making plays on the ball."

Robinson made two tackles Saturday, and had two pass break-ups to go with the first pick-six at UCO in three seasons. The junior from Oklahoma City almost had a second pick-six and may have fallen victim to looking toward running back the interception before making the catch as the ball bounced out of his hands.

This season, Robinson has 33 tackles – 1.5 for a loss – to go with two interceptions and six deflections for the Bronchos.

UCO is on the road in Week 8, playing at Missouri Southern in Joplin on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 3 p.m.
