PITTSBURG, Kan. (March 24) – Daulton Leiker threw seven quality innings and Jake Dyer spearheaded a 15-hit offensive assault to lead Central Oklahoma to a 13-2 drubbing of Pittsburg State here Friday afternoon.

It was the sixth win in seven outings for the Bronchos, who improved to 17-8 on the season and 9-5 in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play.  The two teams meet again at 3 p.m. Friday before finishing the three-game series at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Leiker gave up just four hits and one earned run in the first seven innings while walking one and striking out six to earn the win, improving to 3-0 on the year.  Dyer went 4-for-6 at the plate with five runs batted in, with Jon Kamies adding three hits.

"Daulton had good command today and was really hitting his spots," head coach John Martin said.  "We had some big hits in key situations and came out with a good win on the road."

The Bronchos never trailed after taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning.

Kamies got the scoring started when he singled, went to second on an errant throw and took third on a groundout before scoring on a passed ball.  Chris Lobato added a run-scoring double to left field later in the frame.

PSU scored its first run in the bottom of fourth that Isaac Hellbusch answered with an RBI double in the top of the fifth.  The Gorillas came back with one more in the bottom of that inning to make it 3-2 before UCO took control with a four-run outburst in the sixth.

Kamies had the big hit in the sixth with a two-run triple to right-center field, while Landon Eason added an RBI double and Dyer a run-scoring single as the lead grew to 7-2.

The Bronchos added two-out RBI hits from Dyer, Jacob Borrego and Eason in the seventh to make it 10-2 before ending the game on the 10-run rule in the eighth when Dyer capped his big day with a three-run home run.
