UCO Takes On Ichabods Saturday

Central Oklahoma goes to Topeka, Kan. Saturday to face Washburn in its last Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association road game of the regular season.

Tip-off at Lee Arena is 5 p.m.

The Bronchos are 16-9 for the season, while the Ichabods are 14-11. The two teams are tied for fifth in the conference standings at 10-9.

The top four teams in the final standings earn first-round byes in the MIAA Post-season Tournament while teams 5-8 host teams 9-12 on March 1. The final three rounds are held in Kansas City, Mo. March 4-6.

UCO trails in the series 8-4, but claimed a 61-51 win in this year's first meeting on Jan. 9 in Edmond. Haley Weathers scored 16 points with four 3-pointers and McKenzie Solberg 15 in that victory.

Solberg is shooting 47.9 percent from the field and 82.7 percent from the free throw line in topping the team in scoring with a 16.0 average while adding 4.7 rebounds and 1.8 steals. She has 399 points on the season, needing 12 more to move into 15^th place on the school's single-season list.

Julia Mason has averaged 14.3 points a game over the last four outings to raise her season average to 10.1 to go with 4.0 rebounds. She has moved into 20^th place on UCO's career scoring list with 870 points, needing eight more to jump to 17^th.

Weathers chips in 8.6 points a game and leads the league in 3-point percentage at 45.6, having made 47-of-103 long-range shots.

The Bronchos return to Edmond next week to finish the regular season with two home games, hosting Nebraska-Kearney Thursday and Fort Hays State Saturday on Senior Day.
