UCO Takes On No. 22 Hornets Wednesday

Central Oklahoma takes on its second straight ranked opponent Wednesday when the Bronchos go to Emporia, Kan. to face No. 22-rated Emporia State.

Tip-off is 5:30 p.m. at White Auditorium.

UCO, which dropped a 78-68 home decision to No. 8 Missouri Western last Saturday, is 16-8 on the season and 10-8 in the conference. The Hornets are 19-5 and 13-5.

ESU is fourth and the Bronchos fifth in the league standings, with the top four teams earning first-round byes in the MIAA Post-season Tournament while teams 5-8 host teams 9-12.

The Hornets own a 16-4 lead in the series and have won the last eight meetings between the two teams, including a 74-63 victory in Edmond on Jan. 7.

Olivia Mason scored 13 points and Julia Mason 11 in that loss.

McKenzie Solberg paces UCO with a 16.0 scoring average while adding 4.7 rebounds a game. J. Mason chips 9.8 points and 4.0 rebounds and Haley Weathers 8.8 points on 45.1-percent shooting from 3-point range.

The Hornets lead the MIAA in 3-pointers per game (8.3) and rank second in scoring with 78.2 points a game. Kelly Moten averages 16.2 points and a league-best 4.6 assists to lead ESU.
