Bronchos Go To UNK, FHSU

BRONCHOS BACK ON ROAD:  Central Oklahoma goes on its next-to-last road trip of the season this week with games in Nebraska and Kansas.
 
The Bronchos, 11-4 on the season and 5-4 in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play, is in Kearney, Neb. Thursday to take on Nebraska-Kearney (8-7, 4-5) at 5:30 p.m. before moving on to Hays, Kan. Saturday for a 2 p.m. showdown against No. 3-ranked Fort Hays State (14-1, 8-1).
 
UCO starts a seven-game conference homestand next week and plays nine of its last 11 league contests at Hamilton Field House.  The Bronchos played their first seven MIAA games on the road.
 
ABOUT THE BRONCHOS:  UCO ended a two-game losing streak in its last outing with a 61-51 home win over Washburn last Saturday.  Senior Haley Weathers led a balanced attack with 16 points.
 
The Bronchos, who are 7-3 on the road this season, are averaging 70.9 points a game.
 
Senior McKenzie Solberg is the only player averaging in double figures at 15.5.  She adds 4.9 rebounds a game and is shooting a team-high 48.4 percent from the field along with 81.4 percent from the free throw line.
 
Four players add at least 7.3 points per contest.
 
Senior Julia Mason has a 9.7 average, while junior Marley Anderson and Weathers average 7.9 and junior Olivia Mason 7.3.  O. Mason is the team's top rebounder at 5.2.
 
Freshman Bailey Taylor is shooting a team-best 51.0 percent (25-of-49) from 3-point range in averaging 6.5 points.
 
J. Mason has scored 763 career points, needing 75 more to move into the school's all-time top 20 list.
 
ABOUT THE LOPERS:  UNK has won its last two games to move over the .500 mark on the season.
 
The Lopers, 3-3 at home this season, are averaging 69.5 points a game and have two players in double figures – Laramey Becker (16.5) and McKenzie Brown (11.3).
 
UNK has a 4-3 lead in a short series, though the Bronchos have won the last two meetings.
 
ABOUT THE TIGERS:  FHSU takes a four-game winning streak into Thursday's home game against Northeastern State.
 
The Tigers give up just 54.8 points a game to lead the MIAA in scoring defense.  Chelsea Mason is averaging 14.4 points and Jill Faxon 12.4 to lead the team.
 
FHSU has owns a 6-1 lead in the series, with UCO's lone win in the rivalry coming during the 1989-90 season.
