Bronchos Earn Split At OC

OKLAHOMA CITY (March 3) – Emily Ditmore hit a pair of home runs to lead Central Oklahoma to a wild 11-9 second-game victory and give the No. 20-ranked Bronchos a split with Oklahoma Christian here Tuesday.

The Eagles earned a 10-2 run-rule victory in the opener before UCO bounced back in the nightcap, banging out a season-high 17 hits against three OC pitchers.

Ditmore was one of eight players who had two hits in the second game, clubbing a two-run homer in the third and a solo shot in the top of the seventh in the back-and-forth battle.

Ally Dziadula's sacrifice fly gave the Bronchos a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but OC came back with three runs in its initial at bat.

UCO answered with three of its own in the top of the second on Ditmore's first homer and Joely Rogers' run-scoring single and then made it 5-3 in the third on Morgan Heard's RBI hit.

The Eagles went back in front 6-5 in the bottom of the third, though the Bronchos responded with another three-run volley in the top of the fourth as Shelby Carel had a two-run triple to take an 8-6 lead.

Ashleigh Tramel's lead-off homer in the fifth had UCO on top 9-7, but two unearned runs helped the Eagles tie it in the bottom of that frame.

The Bronchos finally moved ahead to stay in the sixth on Ashton Smith's run-scoring single and Ditmore's second homer made it 11-9 in the seventh.

Carel, Dziadula, Tramel, Smith, Rogers, Kaylee Brunson and Brooke Zukerman joined Ditmore with two-hit performances.

Nicole Brady earned the win with 4 1/3 innings of relief work, improving to 6-1.

The Bronchos managed just five hits in the first game that saw OC break open a 3-2 game with three runs in the third.

UCO opens Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play this weekend, hosting Northwest Missouri for a Saturday doubleheader and
Missouri Western for a Sunday twinbill.
