UCO Opens Road Swing Thursday

Central Oklahoma continues its battle for an upper-division finish in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Thursday when the Bronchos take on Washburn in Topeka, Kan.
 
Tip-off at Schendel Court in Lee Arena is 5:30 p.m.
 
UCO is 14-9 on the season and 7-7 in the league, while the Ichabods are 15-7 overall and 7-7 in MIAA play.
 
The Bronchos and WU are tied for sixth in the conference standings.  The top four teams receive a bye into the MIAA Post-season Tournament quarterfinals, while teams 5-8 host teams 9-12 in first-round games.
 
It's the start of a three-game road swing for UCO, which goes to Emporia, Kan. Saturday to take on No. 9 Emporia State at 1:30 p.m. before finishing at Northeastern State the following Saturday.
 
THE SERIES:  Washburn owns an 8-2 lead in the rivalry and has won the last four games, all by five points or less.
 
The Ichabods beat UCO 55-50 in this year's first meeting on Jan. 22 in Edmond.
 
ABOUT THE BRONCHOS:  UCO is 6-4 in true road games this season, including 3-4 in conference play.
 
The Bronchos are averaging 66.2 points a game while giving up 60.6.  UCO leads the MIAA in free throw percentage (77.2) and has three players shooting 82 percent or better from the line.
 
Senior Kylie Mayes is the only player averaging in double figure scoring with 10.1 points per game and she adds 4.5 rebounds.  Junior Haley Weathers has a 10.3 scoring average, but has missed the last 12 games with a season-ending injury.
 
Sophomore Olivia Mason is averaging 9.9 points and a team-high 5.0 rebounds a contest, while junior Julia Mason adds 9.2 points and 4.6 rebounds.   O. Mason tops UCO in 3-points made (41) and attempted (110).
 
ABOUT THE ICHABODS:  Washburn is coming off an 84-67 road rout of Nebraska-Kearney and ranks second in the conference in rebounding margin at plus-11.6.
 
The Ichabods are averaging 69.3 points a game and allowing 57.4
 
Taylor Ignoto leads the team with a 14.0 scoring average, while Casyn Buchman adds 13.1 and Honor Duvall 12.0 points and 6.1 rebounds.
