Streaking UCO Takes On Tigers Thursday

Central Oklahoma puts a five-game winning streak on the line this week when the Bronchos hit the road for a pair of key Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association games.
 
UCO, 13-3 on the season and 6-1 in the conference, goes to Hays, Kan. Thursday to challenge league co-leader Fort Hays State (14-1, 7-0) and is in Kearney, Neb. Saturday to play Nebraska-Kearney (8-7, 3-4).  Tip-off for both games is 5:30 p.m.
 
FHSU is tied atop the MIAA standings with Pittsburg State, while the Bronchos and Emporia State share third.
 
UCO is back home next Thursday, Jan. 22, to take on Washburn.
 
ABOUT THE BRONCHOS:  UCO has won 11 of its last 12 games and has already surpassed its win total of last season (12) while equaling its MIAA victory total of six.
 
The Bronchos are averaging 71.1 points a game while ranking second in the conference in 3-point percentage (38.3) and third in free throw percentage (76.5).
 
Sophomore Olivia Mason is averaging 11.0 points and 4.6 rebounds a game to lead UCO.  She's third in the MIAA in 3-point percentage (43.8) and sixth in 3-pointers per game (2.0) in addition to shooting 84.2 percent (32-of-38) from the line.
 
Senior Kylie Mayes adds 10.2 points and 4.2 rebounds a contest behind team-high 51.7 percent shooting from the field.
 
Junior Julia Mason contributes 9.8 points and a team-high 5.3 rebounds and McKenzie Solberg 8.5 points on 97.1 percent shooting from the line (34-of-35).
 
ABOUT THE TIGERS:  FHSU has won 13 straight games since falling to Concordia-St. Paul 70-68 in its second game of the season.
 
The Tigers, who are a perfect 9-0 at home, lead the conference in scoring (81.5), scoring margin (25.9), assists (17.9), steals (10.2) and turnover margin (+8.2).
 
Kate Lehman paces FHSU, leading the MIAA in field goal percentage (64.4) and blocked shots (4.7) while ranking second in scoring (21.1) and rebounding (10.3).  Chelsea Mason adds 13.1 points a contest.
 
The Tigers have a 4-1 lead in the series with UCO, having won the last four meetings.
 
ABOUT THE LOPERS:  UNK has won three of its last four games heading into Thursday's home contest with Northeastern State.
 
The Lopers, 3-4 at home this season, are averaging 74.3 points a game.  Laramey Lewis leads the way in both scoring (17.1) and rebounding (7.6), while Alexa Hogberg adds 10.9 points and a conference-best 5.1 assists per game.
 
UNK has a 3-1 advantage in the rivalry and the teams split two meetings last year, each winning at home.
