EDMOND (Feb. 13) -- Central Oklahoma had four players in double figures, but it wasn't enough as Washburn held on for a 63-59 victory on Thursday evening at Hamilton Field House.
Britney Morgan tied the game at 58 with a pair of free throws with just over three minutes remaining, but the Bronchos had four turnovers and a missed free throw over their next five possessions as Washburn surged ahead.
The game was a see-saw affair that saw 12 ties and seven lead changes. Washburn's largest lead of the game was the final margin.
UCO fell to 10-12 with the loss and 5-10 in the MIAA, while Washburn improved to 14-8 and 9-6 in conference play.
Jill Bryan, Britney Morgan and Julia Mason scored 14 points apiece for the Bronchos, while Olivia Mason added 10.
Washburn had a decided rebounding advantage, 44-28, and were led by Brittney Lynch with 22 points and 13 rebounds.
UCO will look to snap a six-game slide when it hosts No. 7-ranked Emporia State on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
