Razorbacks Too Much For UCO

Seth Heckart
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Nov. 7) – Central Oklahoma hung with perennial Division I power Arkansas for most of the first half, but the Razorbacks pulled away in the final 20 minutes for a 110-74 exhibition victory here Friday night.

Seth Heckart and Mahlon Jones scored 22 points apiece to lead the Bronchos, who had a 26-25 lead 11 minutes into the game.  Arkansas moved in front 49-38 by intermission and steadily pulled away in the final 20 minutes to hand UCO its second exhibition loss of the week.

Heckart was 6-of-10 from 3-point range and Jones made 4-of-5 treys in their 22-point outings as the Bronchos shot 48 percent (12-of-25) from beyond the arc.  Jacob Richardson added 12 points and Trai Jordan had nine points and eight rebounds.

Arkansas led 13-12 seven minutes into the game before Heckart hit a short jumper and a 3-pointer to put the Bronchos on top 17-13.  It was a 20-18 lead after another Heckart trey and the junior sharpshooter drilled yet another 3-pointer at the 8:40 mark to put UCO ahead 26-25.

The Razorbacks came back with back-to-back buckets to move ahead 29-26 with 7:11 left and went on to their 11-point halftime lead before pulling away in the second half.

UCO opens the season at the MIAA/GAC Challenge next weekend in Tahlequah, taking on state rivals Southeastern Oklahoma and Northwestern Oklahoma.
