Genny Stidham
TUCSON, Ariz. (Feb. 16) -- No. 16-ranked Central Oklahoma split two games with a pair of top-10 teams at the NFCA Leadoff Classic here Saturday.

The Bronchos dropped a tough 4-3 decision to No. 8 Augustana in their first game of the day before bouncing back with an 8-0 run-rule rout of No. 2 UC San Diego.

UCO, 5-3 on the season, finished 2-2 in pool play in the tournament and will be part of the Silver Bracket Sunday.  Coach Genny Stidham's squad will open against No. 24 Dixie State at 9 a.m. and then will meet the winner/loser of the Augustana/Colorada Mesa game.

The Bronchos scored one run in the top of the ninth inning in their opener against Augustana to take a 3-2 lead, but the Vikings came back to score twice in the bottom of that frame to grab the win.

UCO came back strong against the Tritons, the team that knocked the Bronchos out of the NCAA Division II World Series last spring.  Nicole Workman had a two-run double and Sam Cool and RBI single to pace Central to a 3-0 first-inning lead and Cool ended it on the eight-run rule in the fifth with a two-run home run.
