JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (Dec. 7) –
Philip Brown scored six points to spark an early 10-0 scoring spurt that gave Central Oklahoma the lead and the Bronchos went on to roll over Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association rival Lincoln 90-71 here Saturday.

UCO trailed 8-5 in the early going when Cal Andrews made one of two free throws and Brown a layup to tie the game. Josh Gibbs' 3-pointer put the Bronchos ahead to stay, with Brown hitting a short jumper and a layup to cap the run that made it 15-8.

The Blue Tigers never got closer than seven the rest of the way as UCO closed out its fifth win in six outings in improving to 7-2 on the season and 1-1 in the league.

"We got off to a slow start, but Philip got us going and we came out with a good win," head coach Terry Evans said. "I thought we did a nice job running our offense and we didn't force a lot of things."

The Bronchos committed just 12 turnovers in the contest and shot a season-high 80.6 percent from the free throw line, making 25-of-31 foul shots two days after attempting just two (making one) in a loss at Lindenwood.

Gibbs led the way once again, finishing with game highs in both points (24) and rebounds (11) while hitting all six of his free throw tries. Brown finished with a season-best 18 points, making 8-of-12 field goals and both free throws, and Aaron Anderson chipped in 10 points.

UCO followed its early-game run with a 15-2 spurt late in the half to turn a 31-23 lead into a big 46-25 cushion as Anderson and Jarrod McDaniel had four points apiece and the lead was 48-29 at intermission.

The closest Lincoln got in the second half was 12 at 70-58 with 7:24 remaining, but Brown nailed a short jumper and McDaniel scored four straight points to quickly push the lead back to 18 and the Bronchos cruised in from there.

UCO doesn't play again until hosting league rival Central Missouri on Dec. 19.
