No. 11-ranked Central Oklahoma opens play in the 2012 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships Tuesday in Simpsonville, Ky. when the Bronchos join 19 other teams in the start of 54 holes of stroke play competition.

The teams play three days of stroke play -- using the best four scores from their five-player team -- to determine the eight teams that will advance to match play for the final two days of the tournament, with the national championship decided on Saturday.

The tournament will be held at The Cardinal Club Golf Course in Simponsville and is part of the 2012 Division II Spring National Champioships Festival being held in the Louisville area all week.  Five other sports will also be holding their national tournaments -- women's golf, men's and women's tennis, softball and women's lacrosse.

The Bronchos, who qualified for the national tournament with a third-place finish in the Midwest/South Central Regional, will have a five-man team of Josh Creel, Andrew Green, Baer Aneshansley and Derek Franco.  Creel was the individual champion at the regional.

UCO finished third in the stroke play portion of last year's national tournament before losing in the first round of match play to Central Missouri.

Joining the Bronchos in the 20-team field is top-ranked Barry, No. 2 Nova Southeastern, No. 3 Cal State-Stanislaus, No. 6 Cal State-Chico, No. 8 North Carolina-Pembroke, No. 9 Western Washington, No. 12 St. Edward's, No. 13 South Carolina-Aiken, No. 15 Grand Canyon, No. 16 Georgia College, No. 20 Indianapolis and No. 24 Central Missouri along with seven unranked teams -- Wilmington, Indiana (Pa.), Concord, Post, St. Thomas Aquinas, Washburn and Colorado School of Mines.
