SAN ANGELO, Texas (Feb. 11) – No
. 16-ranked Angelo State had too much firepower for Central Oklahoma here Saturday in sweeping a season-opening doubleheader from the Bronchos.

The Rambelles hammered out 25 hits in the two games, collecting 15 in a 14-6 first-game run-rule win and adding 10 in an 8-1 second-game victory.

UCO was scheduled to stay in Texas and meet Abilene Christian for a doubleheader Sunday, but those games were cancelled due to predicted bad weather in the area.

The Bronchos fell behind 12-0 in the opener before scoring six runs in the top of the fifth, getting a three-run home run from Kayce Rains, a two-run single from Megan Whitmire and a solo homer from Brittany Weaver.

ASU came right back, however, scoring twice in the bottom of that frame to end the game on the eight-run rule.

Kaylee Brunson had two of UCO's seven hits.

The Bronchos scored an unearned run in the top of the first in the nightcap to grab an early lead, but ASU came back with two runs in its first at bat and then put the game away with a four-run volley in the third.

UCO managed just four hits in the second contest.

The Bronchos travel to Durant, Okla. next weekend for the South Central Regional Challenge.
