THACKERVILLE, Okla. (April 20) – Andrew Green and Zach Cleland continued their personal assault on the WinStar Golf Course here Tuesday to secure top-four finishes and lead Central Oklahoma to a third-place showing in the Lone Star Conference Men's Golf Championships.

Green fired a six-under-par 66 and Cleland a five-under 67 as the Bronchos had their lowest score of the year for the second straight day, shooting a 10-under 278 on the 7,272-yard, par-72 layout to finish the three-day, 54-hole tournament with a six-under 858 total.

Abilene Christian had a final-round 279 and won the 10-team tournament at 852, four strokes in front of Midwestern State.  UCO was just two shots back in third, with Cameron fourth at 859.

Green shot 67-66 the last two days of the meet to finish third at 10-under 206, while Cleland was fourth at seven-under 209 after shooting 69-67 the final two rounds.  Green was just one shot out of playoff for the individual title, which was shared by ACU teammates Cyril Bouniol and Alex Carpenter.

UCO also got a one-under 71 from #J.B. Law# in the final round, while Matt Charlson shot 74 and Dillon Rust 76.

“A.G. and Zach were just phenomenal for us throughout the tournament, especially the last two days,” head coach Dax Johnston said.  “They hit the ball great and made a lot of putts and I couldn't be more proud of them.

“We came down here having not played that well most of the spring and really turned it around.”

Green had four birdies and a bogey in shooting a three-under 33 on the front nine, then made three birdies and six pars in coming in with another 33 for his fourth consecutive top-three tournament finish.

The sophomore standout dominated the par-5s during the tournament, playing them in 10-under. He parred the first two par-5s in Sunday's opening round before making 10 straight fours.

Cleland tied a career-low with his 67, making 13 pars and five birdies on the day.  The senior turned at two-under 34 before coming in with a three-under 33 after making birdies on the par-3 14th, par-4 16th and par-5 18th.

Cleland, who has now finished fourth, fourth, eighth and 13th in four league tournament appearances, didn't make a bogey the last two days as he racked up eight birdies and 28 pars.

Law had four birdies in his one-under round, making the turn at 35 before coming back with an even-par 36.

UCO will find out next week if it will earn an invitation to the NCAA Division II South Central Regional, set for May 3-5 in Duncan, Okla.
