PORTALES, N.M. (Dec. 20) –
Courtney Allen sparked an outside shooting display that carried Central Oklahoma to a 75-54 thumping of Eastern New Mexico here Monday night.

The junior guard hit 5-of-7 attempts from beyond the 3-point line in scoring all 15 of her points and the Bronchos made 11 treys overall to break a two-game losing streak in resounding fashion.

Heather Davis and Britney Morgan each made three 3-pointers in scoring nine points apiece, with Davis – who was 1-of-19 from long range entering the game – going 3-of-4.

While that trio handled things outside, Ashley Beckley and Alex Richardson took care of business in the paint.  Beckley hit 7-of-15 shots and 5-of-6 free throws in scoring a game-high 19 points, while Richardson had season highs for both points (12) and rebounds (10).

It all added up to a lopsided win for UCO, which improved to 6-3 in its final game before taking several days off for the Christmas break.

“We came out strong and set the tone early,” head coach Guy Hardaker said.  “It was important for us to get off to a good start after losing the last two games and I was proud of the way we did that.  It's good to get a win so we can take a little momentum into the break.”

The Bronchos never trailed, bolting to a 9-0 lead on baskets by four different players – a 3-pointer by Morgan and short jumpers by Beckley, Richardson and Alyssa Fuxa.

UCO pushed the lead to 11-1 before the Zias came back within four at 11-7, but another Morgan trey ignited a surge that ended with an Allen 3-point that gave the Bronchos a 17-point cushion (32-15) late in the half.

ENMU pulled within 12 at 39-27 by intermission and got as close as 10 (50-40) in the second half before Allen and Davis drained long-distance shots to bookend a 14-0 run that made it 64-40 and ended what little suspense was left.

UCO takes a 10-day break from the schedule, not returning to action until hosting Arkansas-Fort Smith on Dec. 30.
