EDMOND (Jan. 31) --
Victor Driver scored 17 of his season-high 18 points in the second half and No. 3-ranked Central Oklahoma answered a Cameron comeback with a bevy of 3-pointers to turn back the Aggies 90-75 Saturday afternoon at Hamilton Field House.

It was the eighth straight win for the Bronchos, who improved to 18-2 on the season and 5-0 in Lone Star Conference North Division play while stretching their home winning streak to 24 in a row.  Cameron fell to 8-11 and 3-3.

Driver, a 5-foot-7 freshman guard who had scored 15 total points in six games after being pulled out of redshirt status on Jan. 8, was a big sparkplug off the bench.  He hit 6-of-9 shots -- including 4-of-6 from 3-point range -- and both free throw tries in finishing with team-high 18 points and added five assists and two steals in 29 minutes of action.

Four other players scored in double figures as Lance Harper finished with 16 points, David Thomas 13, Michael Sosanya 11 and Eric Cazenave 10.  DeAngelo Garrett (seven rebounds) and Keith Marks (six) came off the bench to provided key work on the boards.

"Vic came up big for us today," UCO coach Terry Evans said.  "He was really active on defense and hit some big shots.  We did a good job defensively in the first half and made some key 3-pointers when they made a run at us."

UCO made eight of its 11 treys in the second half, including one stretch of four straight -- three by Adam Terneus -- that helped turn a six-point lead into a 16-point cushion with 8:39 remaining that put the game away.

The Bronchos limited Cameron to 39.7-percent shooting (23-of-58) from the field, including just 29.6 percent (8-of-27) in the first half in taking a 40-29 lead at the break.

UCO trailed by as many as seven (19-12) in the first half and was down 23-19 with 10:24 left before putting the clamps down defensively.  The Bronchos ended the half with a 21-6 run, getting points from seven different players in that spurt to grab a 40-29 lead at intermission.

It was a 14-point lead at 48-34 after a Sosanya jumper early in the second half, but the Aggies chipped away and got within 61-55 with 12:00 remaining before UCO unleashed its 3-point flurry.

Terneus hit back-to-back treys from the corner and Driver followed with a 22-footer from the top of the key before Terneus answered a CU bucket with another long-distance bomb to push the lead to 73-57 with 8:39 to play.

It became a 20-point spread at 82-62 on a resounding one-handed Harper dunk on a breakaway at the 5:25 mark and the Bronchos cruised in from there.

UCO returns to North Division play Wednesday, hosting Northeastern State at 8 p.m.
