EDMOND (May 29) -- Central Oklahoma men's basketball coach Terry Evans has added a highly-successful high school coach to his staff, it was announced Thursday.
Rodney Dindy will take over as UCO's top assistant after an impressive seven-year stint at Midwest City High School, where he followed Evans as head coach. Dindy put together a 136-51 record and led the Bombers to five straight Class 6A state tournament appearances, capped by a 27-1 state championship campaign in 2006-07.
Evans and Dindy coached together at Midwest City for four years, going 100-11 and winning three state titles before Evans moved on to Oklahoma and then came to UCO in 2002.
“Rodney's a great coach and I think he'll fit right in with our program,” Evans said. “We had a lot of success coaching together at Midwest City and I look forward to us doing more of the same at UCO.”
The Bronchos are coming off a 2007-08 season that saw them win a school-record 28 games, going 28-6 in winning the Lone Star Conference North Division crown, the LSC Tournament title and the South Central Regional championship in making it to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight.
Dindy replaces long-time assistant coach Roland Ware, who left to become head coach at the San Antonio School of Excellence.
