PORTALES, N.M. (Dec. 6) --
Lizzie Brenner continued her assault on the Central Oklahoma record books by becoming the school's all-time leading scorer as the No. 11-ranked Bronchos rolled past Eastern New Mexico 90-72 here Saturday afternoon.

Brenner entered the contest needing just seven points to pass Christy Heavin for UCO's career scoring lead and she got that late in the first half en route to a 29-point outing. The senior star, who already owns school career records for steals, blocked shots and made free throws, now has 1,409 points.

The Bronchos also got a career-high 21 points from Ashley Beckley -- 18 in the first half -- in bouncing back from Thursday's loss at No. 3 West Texas A&M. UCO, now 6-1 on the year, is off until hosting Tarleton State on Dec. 15.

“Lizzie and Ashley really dominated the game inside for us,” UCO coach Guy Hardaker said. “We wanted to come out strong and make sure we didn't let Thursday's loss affect us and I think we did a good job of that.”

Brenner hit 10-of-13 shots, including two 3-pointers, and 7-of-9 free throws in finishing with 29 points while adding five rebounds, four steals and three blocked shots. Beckley needed just 17 minutes to score 21 points, hitting 5-of-9 shots and 11-of-14 free throws.

UCO also got 12 points, three assists and two steals from Cristina Yarbrough in scoring 90-plus points for the fourth time in seven games.

The Bronchos never trailed, getting five points from Beckley in jumping out to a quick 7-0 lead. Brenner got her record-breaking points on a layup with 6:44 left that gave UCO a 31-18 lead and Beckley followed with a layup that made it a 15-point advantage (33-18).

ENMU cut the lead to eight at 43-35 by intermission and was within six (47-41) early in the second half before Brenner went inside for another layup to start a 5-0 run that pushed the lead back to double digits at 52-41.

The Zias would get no closer the rest of the way and UCO's lead peaked at 28 (84-56) on a three-point play by Kasey Tweed with 6:40 left before the Bronchos coasted in.
