PORTALES, N.M. (Dec. 6) --
An 11-0 run to start the game put Central Oklahoma in control early and the No. 3-ranked Bronchos went on to a 78-59 thumping of Eastern New Mexico here Saturday afternoon.

All 11 players scored for UCO, which was never threatened after its opening spurt. The Bronchos improved to 8-1 in easily rebounding from Thursday's loss at West Texas A&M.

“It was important for us to get off to a strong start and we were able to do that,” UCO coach Terry Evans said. “Our defense was really good today and we got contributions from a lot of different players.”

The Bronchos limited ENMU to 38.5-percent (20-of-52) shooting from the field, including 18.8 percent (3-of-16) from 3-point range, and outrebounded the Greyhounds 43-31.

Michael Sosanya led the balanced attack with 12 points and DeAngelo Garrett added 10 as the only two players in double figures. UCO got just 15 combined points from its two leading scorers as Lance Harper (17.0 average) had eight and David Thomas (14.6 average) seven, but it didn't matter.

Eric Cazenave gave the Bronchos a lead they would never relinquish with a layup just 10 seconds in to the contest and the lead quickly grew to 11-0 as Guy Hardaker nailed a pair of 3-pointers and Keith Marks another.

It was a 20-point cushion at 27-7 on a Shane Carroll layup at the 5:17 mark and the lead peaked at 25 (34-9) on a short Sosanya jumper at 2:30 before UCO settled for a 39-17 halftime advantage.

ENMU scored the first bucket of the second half, but the Bronchos answered back quickly with a Thomas 3-pointer and Marks layup to make 44-19 and the Greyhounds never got closer than 19 the rest of the way.

UCO doesn't play again until hosting Tarleton State on Dec. 15.
