Bronchos Go To Oklahoma Baptist Tuesday

No. 12-ranked UCO is 3-1 and the Bison 4-0 After the Opening Weekend

SHAWNEE, Okla. – No. 12 Central Oklahoma goes back on the road Tuesday when the Bronchos take on intrastate rival Oklahoma Baptist in a 6 p.m. contest at the Noble Complex. 
 
UCO went 3-1 at the season-opening Mulerider Volleyball Invitational last weekend in Magnolia, Arkansas while the Bison – who received votes in the preseason AVCA Division II national poll  started the 2026 campaign with a four-match sweep at the Lady Buff Classic in Canyon, Texas. 
 
"OBU has a really good team and this is going to be a tough challenge," head coach Edgar Miraku said. "Our team knows we'll have to play extremely well, but we're looking forward to it." 
 
The Bronchos follow up Tuesday's match with a trip to Denton, Texas this weekend for the Texas Woman's Volleyfest. 
 
ABOUT THE BRONCHOS

UCO started its season with a four-set win over Southern Arkansas before falling to Texas-Tyler. The Bronchos rebounded with a sweep of Arkansas-Monticello and a four-set victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville to finish the weekend 3-1. 
 
Georgia Ahlert led a balanced offensive attack with 41 kills, hitting a solid .258 in the process. The sophomore transfer also had a team-high six service aces and four blocks (three solo, one assisted). 
 
Freshman Kate Wells had an impressive collegiate debut, hitting .308 with 37 kills while also topping UCO in total blocks with 17 (14 assisted, three solo). Sophomore Myla Unterweger was right behind with 36 kills to go along with 26 digs, five aces and four assisted blocks. 
 
Senior Riley Roberts handled most of the setter work in the opening weekend, handing out 112 assists (8.62/set) while also hitting .444 with eight kills and no errors in 18 attacks. The versatile veteran added 30 digs, three aces and six blocks (four assisted, two solo). 
 
All-American senior Kaitlyn Parrott topped the back row defense with 75 digs, averaging 5.36 per set. Sophomore Morgan Manning chipped in 43 digs. 
 
ALL TOURNAMENT TEAM

Caroline Clayton and Ahlert were both named to the All-Tournament Team following the Mulerider Volleyball Invitational. Clayton had 34 kills in three matches played. She almost had double-digit kills in each match, recording 10 against UT Tyler, nine against Monticello, then 15 in the win over Kingsville.


ABOUT THE BISON

OBU capped its 4-0 weekend at the Lady Buff Classic with a 3-1 upset of host and No. 19 West Texas A&M. 
 
The Bison were led by Rylee Unruh (52 kills, 33 digs, 10 aces) and Melody Donegan (49 kills, seven blocks). Emily Boyer guided the offense with 157 assists (9.81/set) along with 31 digs and 15 kills. 
 
UCO has a 9-5 lead in the series with the Bison.

TWU VOLLEYFEST

Central Oklahoma will play four matches in three days this weekend in Denton, Texas. The Bronchos take on UT Dallas on Thursday at 4 p.m., then host Texas Woman's on Friday at 3 p.m. UCO wraps up the event Saturday with matches against Westminster (Utah) and Southern Arkansas on Saturday.
