Bronchos Drop Game 2 With Washburn

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma dropped a 5-1 decision to Washburn Saturday afternoon as the Broncho offense struggled to find hits in the MIAA game at Wendell Simmons Field.
 
UCO is now 10-9 overall on the season and 1-4 in MIAA play. The Bronchos and the Ichabods play Sunday at noon in the series finale.
 
On Saturday, Central was down 2-0 before it ever came to the plate. The Bronchos got a single in the first but left the bases loaded. UCO got another single in the second, but then went three-up, three-down in each of the next three innings. It was 5-0 going to the bottom of the sixth.
 
The Bronchos got another hit there, its third and final hit of the game. But still left two runners on base. In the eighth, Central got its lone run of the game on four walks by Washburn.
 
While UCO only managed three hits, the Bronchos left 11 total runners on base. Drake Lee had two singles and Carson Taylor had the other.
 
Kamden Thompson got the start for the Bronchos and threw seven innings. He gave up five runs on 11 hits and a walk. He recorded a pair of strikeouts. Cortt Gentry threw the final two innings and did give up two hits and a walk but kept Washburn from scoring again. He also recorded two strikeouts.
