Shelby Beard, Rylee Lemos Earn MIAA Honors

Central Oklahoma Duo Honored After Leading Bronchos To 5-0 Weekend

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma went 5-0 this weekend at the Top Gun Midwest Sports Classic and had two standout performers honored for their efforts in leading the Bronchos.

Shelby Beard was named MIAA Pitcher of the Week and Rylee Lemos was named MIAA Hitter of the Week.

Beard led Central Oklahoma to three wins in those five games this weekend. The junior pitcher went 3-0 with a 1.31 ERA and struck out 22 batters in 16 innings of work.

The junior from Dickson, Oklahoma struck out eight in six innings Friday as the Bronchos run-ruled Augustana. She struck out six in five innings Saturday in a win over Duluth. On Sunday, Beard polished off the week with eight more strikeouts in five innings against Minnesota State Moorhead.

Lemos, a senior All-American outfielder, went 8-for-15 on the week with three doubles, a triple, and a home run. She had seven total RBIs and also scored six runs.

The South Coffeyville, Oklahoma native went 2-for-4 with the homer in a run-rule of Augustana on Friday. She went 3-for-4 with a double and a triple and four RBIs in a run-rule of Upper Iowa. Lemos was 1-for-1 against Duluth with two runs scored, 1-for-3 against Rockhurst with another double, and 1-for-3 against Moorehead with her third double of the week and one more RBI.

Central Oklahoma makes its long-awaited return to Gerry Pinkston Stadium this weekend. The Bronchos are 18-4 this season and just 4-0 at home. UCO hosts Drury on Saturday at 12 p.m. for a non-conference doubleheader.
