UCO Drops Series At Missouri Western

Bronchos Fall 12-7 In Saturday Rubber Match

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Central Oklahoma rallied but the deficit was too big on Saturday when the Bronchos lost 12-7 in Game 3 at Missouri Western.

UCO is 10-7 on the season and 1-2 in the MIAA after the first league series of the year.

Central starter Danny Satterlee gave up six runs on seven hits in the bottom of the first inning and Missouri Western had the upper hand from that point. UCO was down 11-1 going into the sixth inning and scored two each in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings, but it was too little too late. Western added the final tally in the bottom of the eighth.

Drake Lee went 4-for-5 with a home run, a double, three runs scored and a pair of RBIs. He accounted for 4 of 10 hits by the Bronchos on Saturday. Caleb Castle, Elijah Alexander, Noah Smallwood, Wyatt Yetter, Cade Mills, and Haden O'Toole all had one hit each.

Bron Farr replaced Satterlee in the bottom of the first inning and threw 3.2 innings of relief work. He gave up four runs on three hits and three walks. Zack Hudspeth was next out of the bullpen and only allowed one run in 2/3 of an inning. Chase Yarger pitched the final three innings and gave up on unearned run on four hits.

Farr and Yarger each had four strikeouts in the game.

Lee scored the first run of the game for the Bronchos. He singled to leadoff the second and Mills hit a two-out single behind him before O'Toole walked. Castle was hit by a pitch to send Lee home and put the Bronchos on the board.

Lee got two more on the board in the sixth. After Alexander led off with a walk, Lee homered to right field to make it 11-3. O'Toole led off the seventh with a double and Castle followed with an RBI triple. Colton Ayres scored Castle to make it 11-5 with an RBI groundout.

Yetter scored Lee and Smallwood on a single in the eighth to make it 11-7.

Central Oklahoma returns home and will host Washburn for a three-game MIAA series next weekend in Edmond. UCO is home the following week as well against Emporia State.
