Hunter Jump Named MIAA Wrestler of the Week

Bronchos Finish Regular Season Sunday In Edmond

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma senior Hunter Jump was named MIAA Wrestler of the Week the league announced Tuesday.

It's the fourth award for a Broncho wrestler this season. Jump joins Jason Henschel, Josh Taylor, and Branson Britten.

Jump, who is ranked fourth in the country at 174 pounds, had one of the biggest wins of the season this past week as No. 1 Central Oklahoma beat No. 2 Nebraska Kearney, 21-18. Friday night at Kearney, Jump won by fall over Otgonbayar Batsuuri. He trailed 3-2 entering the third period but controlled the final period before pinning his eighth-ranked opponent with 34 seconds remaining.

Jump also won 18-1 in 4:49 Saturday at Fort Hays State as the Bronchos clinched at least a share of the MIAA title for the sixth straight season.

Central Oklahoma has one dual left in the regular season, this Sunday against Central Missouri. A win for the Bronchos gives UCO the title outright. Jump is one of eight seniors that will be recognized prior to the dual.
