Baseball Opener Moved To Edmond

Central Oklahoma Opens The 2026 Season Tuesday Against Oklahoma Baptist

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma's 2026 season opener scheduled to be play at Oklahoma Baptist on Tuesday, Feb. 3 has been moved to Edmond due to the impact of recent winter weather.

Bobby Cox Field at Ford Park in Shawnee will not be playable on Tuesday and the game is being moved to Wendell Simmons Field in Edmond. The teams were scheduled to play in Edmond on Feb. 17 and that game will now be moved to Shawnee. The two-game season series flips home dates to accommodate.

Central Oklahoma is under the direction of first-year head baseball coach Robbie Rea, who has spent the past three seasons as the Broncho pitching coach. UCO has won 105 games during that span, including one MIAA title, and has also made two NCAA tournament appearances. The Bronchos return six position players and eight pitchers from last year's squad.

UCO was originally scheduled to open Wendell Simmons Field next weekend with the eighth annual Edmond First Pitch Classic. The Bronchos are hosting the six-team classic and UCO will play four games over the four-day event.
