Central Leads NSU Classic In Tulsa

UCO Takes Three-Shot Lead Into Tuesday's Final Round

TULSA, Okla. – Central Oklahoma is in first place after two trips around Page Belcher Golf Club's Stone Creek Monday in the 2025 NSU Classic.

Central Oklahoma posted a 36-hole 550 and leads Central Missouri (553) by three shots. Pittsburg State (554) is third and Arkansas Tech (556) is fourth. Arkansas Fort Smith and Southern Arkansas (557) are tied for fifth. Stone Creek is a 6,547-yard Par 71.

"We did a good job of staying focused today," UCO head men's golf coach Derrick Thompson said. "There were some times we got a bit off track, but we didn't let it affect us. We got back right away and that was good. There were a lot of teams playing good today though so we need to come back tomorrow a little bit better."

Nick Canales led Central Oklahoma and is second in the 109-player field after shooting 9-under-par through the first two rounds. The junior who won The Mule in Missouri last week shot a 3-under 68 Monday morning before firing a 6-under 65 Monday afternoon.

Canales had four birdies and 13 pars in the first round, then torched Stone Creek with eight birdies and eight pars in the second round.

Rhett Hughes and Bryant Polhill are tied for 16th with both sophomores shooting 3-under 139s. Hughes shot a 1-under 70 in the first round and came back Monday afternoon with a 2-under 69. Polhill also shot a 3-under 68 in the first round that included an eagle on the Par 4 16th hole. He bounced in his second shot from 67 yards out on the 406-yard hole. Polhill shot even-par in the second round.

Baylor Bostick is one shot back in 26th place. He shot a 2-under 69 Monday morning and then even-par 71 in the afternoon.

Karsten Paciotti is also in the lineup for the Bronchos and helped in the first round with a 2-under 69, but he shot 2-over 73 on Monday afternoon and is fifth on the team through 36 holes at even par.

Central Oklahoma wraps up the NSU Classic on Tuesday with the third and final round. Tee times will begin play in the morning and UCO will be in the final pairings.

The Bronchos will play their home tournament in two weeks with the Skip Wagnon Invitational Oct. 6-7 at KickingBird Golf Club.
