No. 4 UCO Downs Florida Southern In Ninth Straight Sweep

Central Oklahoma Goes 4-0 At St. Mary's Rattler Invitational In San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – No. 4 Central Oklahoma completed a four-game sweep in the Rattler Invitational winning its final contest 3-0 over Florida Southern.

The Bronchos improved to 9-0 on the season with the win and have won all 27 sets played in the first two weeks of the 2025 campaign.

"It's been a team effort," UCO head volleyball coach Edgar Miraku said. "We've had a good approach and good execution. And while we're limited a bit with injuries, everyone is helping where they can."

Central Oklahoma hit a season-best .324 on Saturday afternoon, landing 46 kills with a season-low 10 errors. Lindsey Houran dished out 34 assists with Sydney Huck's 15 kills leading the way. Kamryn Glover added a dozen kills to counter the unstoppable 1-2 punch by the Bronchos.

Mikiah Perdue added eight kills, Houran had five herself, and Kedron Burk added five more. Kaitlyn Parrott's 17 digs led the way on the back row with Houran adding 11 digs.

Perdue's four blocks were a team high. Roberts had three, and Houran and Burk had two each.

UCO also had four service aces, with Glover, Houran, Parrott, and Morgan Manning serving up one each.

UCO never trailed in the first set. It was tied twice early, but the Bronchos went on a 7-1 run to gain an early advantage. Florida Southern kept it close midway in the set, but a 6-0 run put Central in command early as the Bronchos won 25-16 to go up 1-0.

Central Oklahoma was down early in the second set, but another 7-1 run helped the Bronchos gain the advantage. With the set tied, 5-5, UCO put together a run to up 12-6. Florida Southern could only get within four the rest of the way with the Bronchos leading by as many as eight points on two different occasions in route to another 25-16 win that put UCO up 2-0 in the match.

The third set was the most competitive. The Bronchos went in front 12-11 in what was already the fifth lead change of the set. UCO worked for everything to get up by four points later in the set, but it was 20-19 nearing the end. Central then ended it with a 5-0 run to finish off the sweep.

Perdue and Glover were named to the Rattler Invitational All-Tournament Team following the conclusion of the event Saturday night. Glover was also named to the Patriot Classic All-Tournament Team last week.

UCO is home next week with five matches in five days. The Bronchos will host Texas Woman's in a single non-conference match Tuesday night at Hamilton Field House. The Bronchos are also co-hosting with Oklahoma Baptist a three-day festival Thursday-Saturday. Central Oklahoma hosts Southwestern and Northwestern on Thursday, East Central on Friday, and Southern Nazarene on Saturday.
