EDMOND – Registration is now open for the 11th Annual Skip Wagnon Golf Classic, which is set for Wednesday, Oct. 1 at KickingBird Golf Club in Edmond.
Entry fee is $200 per person and includes lunch, range balls, player gifts and 18 holes for the unique two-person scramble tournament. Each player also receives two mulligans, entry into the putting contest and participation in a move-up hole.
Registration and lunch begins at 11:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Entries are accepted as an individual, two-person team or foursome (two two-person teams).
Prizes will be awarded the top three teams in three flights and there will also be long drive and closest to the pin contests held during tournament play. Plenty of sponsorship opportunities are available.
The Skipper Classic raises funds to support the UCO Athletic Department and honors former longtime athletic director and men's golf coach John "Skip" Wagnon, who passed away in 2015.
Wagnon served as a student athletic trainer for the Bronchos during his undergraduate days in the late 1960s, then returned to UCO in 1971 as head athletic trainer. Wagnon was named executive director of Alumni Association in 1979 and took over as athletic director and golf coach in 1986. serving in those roles until his retirement in 2003.
