Bronchos Headed To MIAA Championship Game

Central Oklahoma Beat Missouri Southern 6-4 In Championship Semifinal

JOPLIN, Mo. – Central Oklahoma beat Missouri Southern 6-4 Friday afternoon to clinch a spot in the 2025 MIAA Baseball Championship final.

UCO improved to 35-15 with the win. The Bronchos play the winner of Washburn and Northwest Missouri Saturday at 1 p.m. at Missouri Southern's Warren Turner Field.

"Proud of the guys for battling today," UCO head baseball coach John Martin said. "Missouri Southern is a really good team and we knew playing them on their field was going to be tough. But the guys battled and found a way to get it done. Now we need to try and get one more."

Missouri Southern came out and scored two in the top of the first, but the Bronchos answered with two more in the bottom half. UCO then trailed 4-2 after the hosts scored in the third and the fifth. Central finished with two runs in the sixth to tie, and two more in the bottom of the eighth to pull in front.

Brooks Miller, who had four RBIs in Thursday's quarterfinal win over Rogers State, singled to center field in the bottom of the eighth inning to score Grant Randall and give UCO the go-ahead run with a 5-4 lead.

Valek Cisneros came on to pitch the ninth and the MIAA's all-time saves leader earned another one on Friday. He did give up a single to the leadoff, but then got a fielder's choice groundout, a flyout to left, and a strikeout to end the game. Cisneros recorded his 11th save of the season and 30th of his career.

UCO got two runs in the first. Ty Hammack singled to left to score Aiden Proctor before Orlando Gonzalez singled up the middle to score Ty Chapman, tying the game, 2-2.

Randall flied out to right field in the sixth to score Hammack, then Gonzalez scored on a wild pitch to tie the game again, 4-4. Miller's RBI gave UCO the lead and Proctor hit a sac-fly to score Davan Brady that made it 6-4.

Danny Satterlee started for Central and threw 3.0 innings, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks. He struck out four batters in three innings.

Austin Burda, Michael Lopez, Brady Gilmore, and Tristan Wittau all came out of the bullpen before Cisneros entered in the ninth. Wittau earned the win, his second of the season. He struck out three batters over three innings. Burda, Gilmore, and Cisneros all had one strikeout each.
