Bronchos Finish Fifth At KickingBird

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma moved up one spot on Day 2 of Southern Nazarene's Diffee Ford-Lincoln Invite Tuesday at KickingBird Golf Club, where the Bronchos finished fifth in the 36-hole tournament.

Play was delayed one hour Tuesday due to overnight storms in Edmond. The Bronchos were sixth after Monday's first round and moved up with 305 on Tuesday.

Southwestern Oklahoma State won the team title with a 36-hole 604 (292-312). Southern Arkansas (306-304 – 610) and Northwestern Oklahoma State (309-301 – 610) tied for second. Harding finished fourth in front of UCO with a 612 (301-311).

UCO senior Jirasuda Khunarak moved up 16 spots in the individual standings and finished 13th among the field. Khunarak finished with a 151, coming back from a 7-over 77 on Monday with a 4-over 74 Tuesday. She surged up the leaderboard despite a 5-over-par stretch of three holes. Khunarak sank birdie putts on No. 8 and again on No. 15. She played the back nine even-par for the 74.

MaKaylee Cowan had Central's low score on Monday – a 5-over-par 75. She came back with a 7-over 77 on Tuesday, dipping just three spots to 16th on the leaderboard. Cowan sank one of just three birdies for the Bronchos on Monday. She had one more on Tuesday on the Par-4 10th.

Estela Castillo moved up three spots to 26th individually. She posted back-to-back rounds of 7-over 77 this week. Castillo made birdie putts on No. 4 and No. 15.

Scarlet Sturch, who played as an individual, finished 30th. She responded from her 13-over-par 83 Monday with a 2-over-par 72 on Tuesday. Sturch sank to birdie putts and 13 par putts on Tuesday.

Layne Ailshie, who also played as an individual this week, finished 37th. The freshman shot a 157 (83-74). Josey Cavitt finished tied for 47th at 159 (80-79) alongside Drew Faires, who shot the same 36-hole total, 159 (82-77).

Central Oklahoma has a quick turnaround. The Bronchos leave Thursday for Destin, Florida for the annual Emerald Coast Collegiate.
