Bronchos Run-Rule Newman For Game 2 Win

Central Oklahoma Takes Another MIAA Series With Offensive Outburst

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma kept the hot hand going Saturday afternoon, run-ruling Newman in Game 2 of the MIAA series 17-5.

UCO is 23-8 overall and 13-6 in the MIAA following its seventh consecutive win. The Bronchos will host Newman Sunday at 12 p.m. for the final game of the league series.

Although Newman jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning, UCO scored six in the third, seven in the fourth, and four more in the fifth to build an insurmountable lead. Newman scored two more in the fifth before the Bronchos last big rally.

Davan Brady hit a grand slam and Joe Ricchio had a three-run homer. Both finished with four RBIs. Caden Roberston kept his hot hand going, finishing the day 3-for-4 with a triple, four RBIs and three runs scored.

Grant Randall went 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored. Ty Hammack went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBIs. Orlando Gonzalez and Garett Long also had hits in the game.

Danny Satterlee got the start for the Bronchos and threw 5.0 innings, striking out three batters. He gave up five runs on eight hits. Preston Giltner finished off the game, throwing two innings and allowing only one hit while striking out three batters of his own.

Trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the third and with the bases loaded, Robertson delivered a two-RBI single that also scored a game-tying third run on a throwing error. Then Hammack and Gonzalez traded RBI doubles to make it 5-3, and Ricchio added a sac-fly to make it 6-3.

In the fourth, Randall's triple scored Long, then Robertson's triple scored Randall and Hammack added an RBI single to score Robertson, pushing the lead to 9-3. Brady was up with the bases loaded and one out when he smacked grand slam to right field to give UCO a 10-run lead.

After Newman got two runs back in the fifth, Robertson added another RBI single to score Ty Chapman before Ricchio's three-run home run made it the final, 17-5.
