UCO Announces Football Spring Game Against SNU

Central Oklahoma, Southern Nazarene Taking Part In Recently Approved Outside Competition In Spring

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma is hosting a spring football game against Southern Nazarene Thursday, April 17 at 6 p.m. at Chad Richison Stadium.

While many schools around the state and country are canceling traditional spring games, UCO and SNU are utilizing a recently passed NCAA rule permitting outside competition in the spring. The Bronchos and Crimson Storm will meet in Edmond in a live exhibition game.

"We were excited when the NCAA passed the rule and wanted to get this done last year, but it didn't work out," UCO head football coach Adam Dorrel said. "We're glad we get to this year. It benefits both teams. It'll be exciting.

"Our fans were great this past year and we hope everyone will come out and support us in a few weeks," Dorrel added.

Central Oklahoma went 11-2 in 2024 and won the MIAA Championship. The Bronchos hosted and won a first-round playoff game, beating Ouachita Baptist in overtime. UCO advanced to the NCAA Division II Football Championship Super Region III semifinal.

Southern Nazarene went 3-8 last fall, with its first win coming against GAC champion Ouachita Baptist in Week 9. The Crimson Storm ended the season on a three-game win streak.

Central Oklahoma and Southern Nazarene have never played in an official football game. The two schools did get together in March 2021 for another spring exhibition following the canceled 2020 seasons. UCO won that contest 30-26.

Central Oklahoma will be announcing soon season ticket information for the 2025 season, as well as the football program's golf fundraiser and other promotional materials for home games.

UCO begins the 2025 season with a Week Zero non-conference clash Aug. 30 at UT Permian Basin before its Week 1 home opener against MIAA rival Pittsburg State Sept. 6 at Chad Richison Stadium. The Bronchos have an open date Week 2. UCO has six home games on the 2025 schedule.
