Bronchos Open Fall Camp

Central Oklahoma Begins Preparation For 2026 Season

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma football opened fall camp Friday morning with 130 student-athletes taking to the field for the first practice of the 2026 season.

Adam Dorrel enters his fifth season leading the Bronchos. The 2024 MIAA Coach of the Year has a 28-18 record in four seasons at the helm and was excited on Friday about the new year.

"It was good to be back out there," Dorrel said. "Overall, I like the vibe and the enthusiasm of our guys. We had some good things on both sides of the ball. The later it got in practice, we maybe tapered off a bit in the heat, but we need that. The first month of the season we'll be playing in the heat so it'll get us ready."

UCO will practice nine times over the next 10 days prior to the first day of school on Monday, Aug. 17. The annual Meet the Bronchos intrasquad scrimmage is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 20, and Dorrel and company will officially begin game week preparations the following day leading up to the Week Zero matchup at Texas Wesleyan.

Central Oklahoma plays at TWU in Fort Worth, Texas Thursday, Aug. 27 to kickoff the 2026 season. UCO has an open date in Week 1 and will travel to Conway, Arkansas to take on Central Arkansas in Week 2. That matchup is the first against a Division I opponent for the Bronchos since 2011.

Following a Week 2 MIAA matchup at Washburn, Central Oklahoma will open the gates to Chad Richison Stadium for the first time on Sept. 26 in a Homecoming contest against Northwest Missouri.
