Bronchos Outlast NSU, Clinch Postseason Berth

Central Oklahoma Wins 73-67 In Season Finale, Will Be No. 8 Seed In Kansas City

EDMOND – After Thursday's home loss, Central Oklahoma appeared to be on the bubble for the 2025 MIAA Basketball Championship, but Jacobi Sebock carried the team to a 73-67 win over Northeastern State in the final game of the regular season and punched UCO's ticket to the playoffs.

UCO will be the No. 8 seed in next week's MIAA Basketball Championship in Kansas City, Missouri, and will take on No. 9 seed Emporia State Wednesday, March 5 at 12 p.m. inside historic Municipal Auditorium.

Central Oklahoma finished the regular season 16-12 overall and 10-9 in the MIAA. Northeastern State, which earned the No. 10 seed in the tournament, is 14-14 overall and 8-11 in the MIAA.

NSU will play No. 7 seed Missouri Western Wednesday afternoon. No. 1 seed Washburn awaits the UCO/ESU winner, while No. 2 seed Fort Hays State waits for MWSU/NSU, on Thursday.

No. 4 Pittsburg State will play No. 5 Nebraska Kearney and No. 3 Rogers State will play No. 6 Central Missouri in the quarterfinals on Friday.

The semifinals are scheduled for Saturday and the 2025 MIAA Basketball Championship game is scheduled for Sunday, March 9.

Saturday in Edmond, Sebock led the Bronchos with the best performance of the season. The junior forward scored a game-high 25 points and pulled down 14 rebounds. He was 10-for-20 from the floor and 5-for-5 at the free-throw line.

Sebock's jumper with 41 seconds remaining sealed the win, giving UCO a 69-65 lead when NSU was desperate for a stop. The Bronchos got another stop, Israel Hart made two free-throws, then UCO got one more stop and Sebock threw down with authority a monster slam to put the exclamation point on the win.

Hart finished with 12 points, seven steals, four assists and three rebounds. He was 3-for-13 shooting and was the only other Broncho in double figures today.

JV Seat scored nine points, and Luke Haasl and Matthew Willenborg both scored seven points. Jordan Thompson scored six, Preston Aymond finished with four, and Parker Hannah scored three points to round out the scoring for the Bronchos.

The first half had two lead changes. UCO led 6-0, but NSU found itself ahead 12-8 soon after. The Bronchos got back in front and led 24-17 when Hannah hit a 3-pointer. Central edged out a 30-27 halftime lead.

The second half was similar, with the game ultimately ending with 10 lead changes and 13 ties. The game was tied 65-65 when the Bronchos put together a 10-0 run to finish it off.

Sebock's layup started the run. Hart made a layup too before Sebock's big turnaround jumper really sealed the game. Hart made two more free-throws, then Sebock's slam finished it.

Central Oklahoma and Emporia State only met once this season, and ESU came away with a win 74-65 win in Emporia, Kansas. UCO had a seven-game win streak in the rivalry snapped this season. The Bronchos lead the all-time series 31-16. Central and Emporia have only met once in the MIAA's postseason tournament. The Bronchos won 62-49 in the opening round of the 2017 edition.
