Sebock, Bronchos, Buck Mules

Central Oklahoma Beats Central Missouri 64-62 Saturday In Warrensburg, Missouri

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Jacobi Sebock caught an inbounds pass with 11 seconds left, drove to the basket and made a layup while being fouled with 7.9 seconds left, and after a made free-throw the junior forward capped off an incredible finish with a steal with one second remaining to seal off a 64-62 Central Oklahoma win at Central Missouri Saturday afternoon.

UCO is 15-11 on the season with the win and now 9-8 in the MIAA. The Bronchos are tied for fifth in the league standings with two games remaining, both next week in Edmond.

"Happy for Jacobi and the way that ended," UCO head men's coach Bob Hoffman said. "Happy for him and happy for all the guys. I don't think we could've started any worse and everyone stayed with it and found a way to get back into. The finish was great but the first half comeback was too."

Sebock hit a 3-pointer 18 seconds into Saturday afternoon's MIAA matchup. That gave the Bronchos a 3-0 lead. Over the next 4:53 however, it was the host Mules going on an incredible 18-0 run. UCM made 8 of 9 shots, two 3-pointers, and had two steals during the run.

But the Bronchos still had 35 more minutes of game time in front of them.

UCO soon went on a 12-0 run spanning just over four minutes. Luke Haasl made a layup to make it 21-10 with 11:03 to go in the first half. Israel Hart's layup with 7:24 left made it 21-20.

The 15-3 UCO run after the 18-3 UCM start had the Bronchos right back in the game. UCO trailed 30-27 at halftime.

The second half had just as much excitement and eight lead changes kept things interesting. UCO used an 8-0 run midway through the half to take a 54-50 lead. The Bronchos held the lead until an 8-0 UCM run in the final two minutes.

That's when the Mules took a 62-61 lead and when Sebock took an inbounds pass and drove to the basket for the game-winning layup.

Sebock finished with 12 points, six rebounds, and two steals in 30 minutes. He was 4-for-11, 1-for-1 from deep, and 3-for-3 at the free-throw line.

Hart led the Bronchos with 16 points on 7 of 13 shooting. He had a team-high seven rebounds to go with three assists and two steals. Haasl and JV Seat scored 10 points each. Haasl had six boards and two blocks. Seat added three rebounds and a team-high two made 3-pointers.

Jordan Thompson scored seven points to go with five rebounds and two assists. Parker Hannah added five points off the bench, and Ben Averitt and Matthew Willenborg both scored two points.

Central Oklahoma heads into the final week of the 2024-25 regular season tied for fifth place in the MIAA standings. The league is using KPI standings to determine the 10 teams qualifying for next month's MIAA Basketball Championship. UCO was seventh in this week's KPI standings. An updated KPI standings will be published Monday, Feb. 24 and the 10-team bracket will be released Saturday, March 1 following the completion of the final game of the season.

UCO hosts Arkansas Fort Smith Thursday night and Northeastern State Saturday afternoon. The Bronchos are aiming to avenge losses to both schools in January. Saturday's finale will also be Senior Day for Preston Aymond, Haasl, and Thompson.
