UCO Outpaced In Topeka

Bronchos Lose At No. 4 Washburn In Lopsided Affair

TOPEKA, Kan. – Central Oklahoma couldn't keep pace with fourth-ranked Washburn in an MIAA matchup Thursday night and the Bronchos ended up on the wrong side of a 93-72 result.
 
UCO is 14-11 overall on the season following the loss, and 8-8 in the MIAA. The Bronchos are back on the floor Saturday at Central Missouri.
 
"We knew a lot was going to have to go right to beat a team like this at their place, and we just didn't have it tonight," UCO head men's basketball coach Bob Hoffman said. "They're a really good team and they'll make you pay. We couldn't keep up with it tonight."
 
Central Oklahoma led 5-2 in the early minutes of the game, but an 8-0 run by Washburn turned the tide and the host Ichabods never looked back. Washburn led by as much as 11 points late in the first half and then by 10 at halftime, 42-32.
 
The Bronchos shot better in the second half, but couldn't keep pace with Washburn, which shot 52.7 percent on the night, including 9-for-26 from three and 26-for-32 at the line. UCO shot 40.0 percent overall, 7-for-24 from three, and 17-for-24 at the line.
 
Israel Hart led the Bronchos in scoring with 23 points – 18 of which he scored in the first half. The senior guard was 7-for-19 overall, 3-for-9 from deep, and 6-for-7 at the stripe. Hart also had five assists, three rebounds, and two steals.
 
Jacobi Sebock added 14 points and a team-high eight rebounds. He was 5-for-10 with one 3-pointer and three free-throws. Sebock added three assists and two steals.
 
JV Seat was the third Broncho in double figures, scoring 13 points. Seat was 5-for-14, hit one 3-pointer, and made both of his free-throw attempts.
 
Luke Haasl added eight points and four rebounds. Jordan Thompson scored three points. UCO got 11 points off the bench, with Parker Hannah leading the way with three points. Ben Averitt, Jack Robinson, Matthew Willenborg, and Jarreth Ingram all had two points.
 
Central Oklahoma finishes the season's final road trip Saturday at Central Missouri. The Bronchos are home next week against Arkansas Fort Smith next Thursday night, and Northeastern State in the final game of the 2024-25 regular season March 1 in Edmond.
