Bronchos Return With Rout of Dallas Christian

Central Oklahoma Wins 83-49 In Non-Conference Matchup

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma returned from break with a cruising blowout victory over Dallas Christian Tuesday afternoon at Hamilton Field House where the Bronchos won 83-49 in the non-conference matchup.

UCO improved to 8-7 on the season with the win and snapped a three-game losing streak to end the calendar year and the non-conference schedule. The Bronchos now turn to 2026 and 16 MIAA games beginning Saturday at Newman.

"It was good to get back on the floor and get ourselves back up and running after the break," UCO head men's basketball coach Bob Hoffman said. "We did a good job of taking care of business and doing what needed to be done. It was a good way to go into conference play."

The game was tied 2-2 after 30 seconds, but the Bronchos went on an 11-0 run after that and had runs of 7-0 and 8-0 later in the first half of the contest. Central doubled up Dallas Christian 40-20 at halftime. The 34-point final margin was the largest of the game.

Matthew Willenborg led UCO with 27 points, 14 rebounds, and four blocked shots. He had 24 in the first half, outscoring DCC himself. Willenborg was 8-for-15 in the game, 2-for-4 from behind the 3-point line, and 9-for-11 at the free-throw line.

Parker Hannah added a career-high 19 points with a team-high three 3-pointers. The junior guard was 7-for-11 from the floor, 3-for-7 from deep, and also hit both of his free-throw attempts. Hannah led UCO's defensive efforts with four steals.

Jack Robinson added nine points and led the offense with seven assists, tying a career-high he set earlier this month. The sophomore guard scored nine points and also had four rebounds and two steals.

Central Oklahoma got eight points off the bench from Brady Hancuff and Marcus Zeigler Jr., three from Connor Newton and Chase Sucharda, and two from Noah Eckels. Trey Tuck also scored four in his first career start.

UCO went 14-for-31 in both halves, shooting 45.2 percent for the game. The Bronchos were 9-for-23 from behind the 3-point line, sinking four in the first half and five in the second. Central also went 18-for-29 at the free-throw line, making eight in the first 20 minutes and 10 in the second.

Central Oklahoma will turn the calendar for the remaining 16 conference games. The Bronchos are 1-2 in league play after two early weeks of MIAA games in December. After visiting Newman on Saturday, the Bronchos will host Northeastern State next Wednesday and No. 11 Arkansas Fort Smith on Saturday, Jan. 10.
