Bronchos Run Past Newman

Central Oklahoma Wins By Double Figures In MIAA Road Game

WICHITA, Kan. – Parker Hannah followed up a career high performance to end 2025 with a new career high to begin the new year Saturday at Newman, where the UCO junior guard scored 27 points to lead the Bronchos to an 89-72 win.
 
Central Oklahoma improved to 9-7 with the win overall and are now 2-2 in the MIAA. The Bronchos return home next week for a pair of league games against Northeastern State on Wednesday night and No. 11 Arkansas Fort Smith next Saturday.
 
"We had some guys step up today that really helped us," UCO head men's basketball coach Bob Hoffman said. "Parker was great. Really happy for him to have a game like that today. He is such a good shooter and was big for us today."
 
Hannah scored a career-high 27 points on 10 of 14 shooting, including 3-for-5 from behind the 3-point line. Hannah was also a perfect 4-for-4 at the free-throw line. He scored a career-high 19 points on Tuesday against Dallas Christian.
 
Matthew Willenborg scored 26 points to help the effort for UCO's second win in a row. The junior forward was 11-for-19 overall, 1-for-7 from behind the 3-point line, and 3-for-4 at the free-throw line. Willenborg added nine rebounds to lead the Bronchos and four blocked shots.
 
Central Oklahoma shot 63.0 percent on Saturday, making 34 of 54 shots overall. The Bronchos were 5-for-17 from 3-point range and 16-for-23 at the free-throw line.
 
UCO also got 13 points from Ben Averitt on 6 of 7 shooting. He grabbed seven rebounds and dished out three assists. Marcus Zeigler Jr. made it four in double figures with 10 points and the junior guard added nine assists and two steals.
 
Chase Sucharda and Brady Hancuff scored two points each to round out the scoring.
 
Central Oklahoma led 8-0 in just two and a half minutes Saturday. The Bronchos led 16-6 at the first media timeout. UCO doubled up Newman 28-14 midway through the first half and led 50-32 at halftime thanks to a 9-0 run in the final two minutes.
 
Central Oklahoma hosts Northeastern State Wednesday night at Hamilton Field House. The Bronchos host No. 11 Arkansas Fort Smith next Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
