Bronchos Back In Win Column

Central Oklahoma Beats Minnesota Crookston 62-47 In Central Region Challenge

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - Central Oklahoma led wire-to-wire in a 62-47 win over Minnesota Crookston Friday evening in the Central Region Challenge at Northeastern State's Tahlequah Event Center.

UCO improved to 2-2 on the season with the non-conference win in its first ever meeting with the Golden Eagles from Crookston, Minnesota (0-1).

"We did a good job of taking care of business tonight," UCO head men's basketball coach Bob Hoffman said. "It wasn't a perfect game but we did what we need to do to win. We had some guys step up and help. Now we need to build off this and get some momentum going with another one tomorrow."

Central Oklahoma wraps up the two-day festival Saturday afternoon against Arkansas Monticello at 2 p.m.

Josh Nwankwo led UCO with 19 points on Friday. The senior guard was 7-for-11 from the floor, including 2-for-3 from behind the 3-point line, and also went 3-for-3 at the free-throw line. He added six rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Matthew Willenborg and Jacobi Sebock both scored 12 points to give UCO three in double figures. The junior forward Willenborg had a game-high 10 rebounds and added four steals, three assists, and two blocked shots. The senior forward and All-MIAA player Sebock added three rebounds and two assists before fouling out in 18 minutes of play.

The Bronchos got 62 points from six players. Jack Robinson scored nine and Marcus Zeigler Jr. added seven while Chase Sucharda chipped in three points off the bench. Sucharda's 3-pointer was the only bench points of the game for UCO.
