Bronchos Finish Second At KickingBird

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma took second place in the Skip Wagnon Invitational presented by Visit Edmond that wrapped up Tuesday afternoon at KickingBird Golf Club.
 
The Bronchos shot a 30-under-par 810 in the two-day, 54-hole event. St. Mary's won the team title with an 806 while Missouri Southern (825), Winona State (838), and Southwestern Oklahoma State (839) rounded out the top five.
 
Baylor Bostick finished third individually while Nick Canales and Karsten Paciotti tied for seventh. Rhett Hughes finished 11th and Bryant Polhill 18th. UCO also had four individuals playing with Andrew Talburt's 11th-place showing leading that group. Ty Hyatt finished 18th and Brock Jerman 22nd. Joah Bramwell finished 58th.
 
Bostick improved his score by three shots each round this week, beginning with an even-par 70 on Monday morning. His 3-under 67 followed Monday afternoon, then he posted a 6-under-par 64 on Tuesday. The junior from Duncan, Oklahoma had only two bogeys on Monday morning and none Monday afternoon. While he did have three on Tuesday, he countered with an incredible nine birdies.
 
Paciotti was par or better in all three rounds. He shot an even-par 70 Monday morning and then a 5-under 65 in the afternoon. On Tuesday, he finished with a 1-under 69. The senior from Katy, Texas missed an early par putt on No. 4 but sank birdies on No. 9 and No. 12 to go along with 15 pars on the day.
 
Canales started the tournament with a scorching 8-under 62 and followed with back-to-back 1-over-par 71s. Canales made seven par putts on the front nine and was 2-over at the turn. He sank birdies on No. 12 and No. 17.
 
Hughes finished with a 207, shooting 72-67-68 this week. Polhill shot a 209, with rounds of 68-69-72.
 
Talburt, who played baseball for the Bronchos last year, made his collegiate golf debut with a 3-under-par 207 this week. He shot three consecutive 1-under 69s. Hyatt shot a 209 (73-67-69) and Jerman a 210 (72-67-71). Bramwell posted a 218 (72-74-72).
 
Central Oklahoma has two more tournaments left in the fall. The Bronchos play in Missouri Southern's Fall Invite at Shangri-La in two weeks and wrap up the first half of the season at the DBU Classic in Rockwall, Texas in three weeks.
