UCO Wins Fourth Straight Game To End January On High Note

WICHITA, Kan. – Central Oklahoma won its fourth game in a row Thursday night in a dazzling display of basketball at Newman University's Fugute Gymnasium.

UCO shot a season-best 62.9 percent from the floor, making a season-high 17 3-pointers in route to a 108-75 victory in the MIAA contest.

The Bronchos improved to 12-8 on the season with the win and are now 6-5 in league play. UCO plays again – on Sunday afternoon – on the second game of its quick two-game getaway.

A Central trio scored 60 points on Thursday night in Wichita.

Israel Hart scored a game-high 26 points on 9 of 11 shooting. The senior guard made 7 of 8 3-pointers and 1 of 2 free-throws. JV Seat scored 18 points on 7 of 10 shooting and went 4-for-6 from behind the 3-point line. Jacobi Sebock scored 16 points on 8 of 11 shooting.

UCO came out firing, hitting its first five shots, 12 of its first 13, and all seven 3-pointers it took in the first 12 minutes of the game. Hart scored 12 of the first 14 points with four perfect 3-pointers in the first 3:11.

The Bronchos continued the early blitz, leading 30-8 after hitting their sixth straight 3-pointer to start the game. UCO led by 22 in less than 10 minutes.

Central continued stretching the lead through the first half and led 58-29 at halftime. The Bronchos were 23-for-33 in the first 20 minutes of the game, including a 10-for-14 mark from behind the 3-point line. UCO only shot two free-throws and made both of them.

The second half was more of the same. The Bronchos made 23 shots in the first half, and put in 21 more in the second half. UCO finished with 17 threes, taking 14 in each half.

UCO outscored Newman 50-46 in a second half that ended with every Bronchos stepping on the floor.

Jordan Thompson also scored in double figures Thursday, putting up 11 points to go with eight assists.

Ben Averitt and Jarreth Ingram both scored seven points. Parker Hannah added six. Chase Sucharda, Mattew Willenborg, and Preston Aymond all scored four points. Connor Newton added six, and his 3-pointer put the Bronchos over the 100-point mark late in the second half.

Luke Haasl also scored two points in 12 minutes of play. The senior forward pulled down five rebounds in the game.
