UCO Wins Third Straight In Runaway Victory

Central Oklahoma Beat Fort Hays State 75-65 Saturday In An MIAA Matchup In Edmond

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma hit almost every shot it took in the first 15 minutes of Saturday's MIAA clash with Fort Hays State as the Bronchos built a controlled 75-65 victory at Hamilton Field House.
 
The Bronchos have won three in a row and are 11-8 on the season, with a 5-5 record in the MIAA. UCO jumped up to a tie for sixth in the league standings with its win streak.
 
"As a coach you love it when your team comes out shooting the ball that well," UCO head men's basketball coach Bob Hoffman said. "That puts you in a great spot against a team with one of the best defenses in the country. The guys were really good on both ends of the floor for us and played well for 40 minutes too it was really good."
 
Saturday's leading scorer Jacobi Sebock got the scoring started with a dunk from Israel Hart and the Bronchos were off and running.
 
UCO made its first three shots, then hit eight in a row. It was Sebock again with a 3-pointer giving the Bronchos a 31-18 lead with 9:12 to play in the first half. Central was 11-for-12 from the floor, 2-for-3 from behind the 3-point line, and 7-for-7 from the free-throw line in the first 10 minutes of play.
 
Central Oklahoma hit three in a row again, with another 3-pointer from Jordan Thompson, and built a 38-22 lead with 5:33 to play. The Bronchos were 14-for-16 through 15 minutes of play.
 
UCO had an 18-point lead in both halves Saturday. The Bronchos were up 41-30 at halftime after finishing that hot start 15-for-24. Central led 75-57 for its second 18-point lead late in the game Saturday afternoon.
 
Sebock led UCO with 21 points, hitting 9 of 13 shots including a pair of 3-pointers. He made the only free-throw he took on the day. Sebock also had six rebounds in the game.
 
JV Seat finished with 15 points on 5 of 11 shooting. He hit one 3-pointer and was 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. Hart scored 11 points on 3 of 9 shooting. He hit one 3-pointer and went 4-for-5 at the line. Hart led UCO with seven rebounds and also had a team-high four steals.
 
Thompson and Luke Haasl both finished with nine points. They both made three shots. They both made one 3-pointer. And they both made two free-throws. Haasl had two rebounds, two assists, two steals and a block. Thompson had four assists, two steals and one board.
 
Jarreth Ingram scored seven points off the bench and Matthew Willenborg added three points to go with three rebounds, two blocks, and a steal.
 
Central Oklahoma has a pair of road games next week. Thursday UCO plays at Newman, which it beat Jan. 4 in Edmond. The Bronchos will play at Emporia State on Sunday, Feb. 2 in the only meeting of the year between the two schools.
 
UCO returns to Edmond Feb. 6 & 8 to host Northwest Missouri and Missouri Western.
