Huck Leads Hot-hitting UCO To Rout of Fort Lewis

Bronchos Set A School Record For Team Attack Percentage

SAN ANGELO, Texas – Sydney Huck hit .696 with 17 kills to lead a record-setting Central Oklahoma attack that steamrolled Fort Lewis Saturday afternoon in the final match of the Kathleen Brasfield Invitational.

The No. 23-ranked Bronchos set a single-match school record with a sizzling .446 attack percentage, finishing with 49 kills against a mere four errors in 101 attacks. UCO rolled over the Skyhawks 25-11, 25-13, 25-12 to complete a 4-0 weekend in the season-opening event.

"Everybody was really swinging it well and it was a great way to finish the weekend," head coach Edgar Miraku said. "I thought we got a little better every match. It was a great way to start the season and gives us something to build on."

Huck needed just 23 attacks to record her 17 kills while committing just one error. Jenna Karp capped a dominating weekend with 10 kills and no miscues in 22 attempts for a .455 attack percentage to go along with three blocks and two service aces.

Addison Wimmer added six kills while playing just one set. Lindsey Houran was masterful directing the offense once again, totaling 31 assists with seven digs, three kills and two aces.

The Bronchos also got 11 aces and seven digs from Riley Roberts, 17 digs from Katie Le and 10 digs from Kaitlyn Parrott.

UCO fell behind 3-0 in the first set, then went on a 12-1 run to take control. Mikiah Perdue keyed that surge with three kills and three total blocks, with Huck notching four kills down the stretch to finish off the rout.

The Bronchos seized command early in the second set, getting two aces from Houran and one each from Karp and Roberts in going up 15-6. Huck had three kills and Karp two kills with a solo block the rest of the way in another lopsided win.

UCO was down 2-1 early in the third set and then reeled off 12 unanswered points. Karp had five kills and a block while Huck knocked down four kills in that stretch.

The Bronchos hit the road again next week, going to Shawnee Tuesday to meet Oklahoma Baptist before heading to Florida for four matches.
