Grayson Miller Named MIAA Special Teams Player of the Week

Central Oklahoma Punter Ranks No. 1 In The MIAA This Season

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Grayson Miller was named MIAA Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Miller, UCO's junior punter, was called on four times during Central Oklahoma's 49-24 win over Fort Hays State on Saturday. He punted four times for 198 yards, including two punts over 50 yards and two punts inside the 20. His high for the game was 58 yards.

Miller, who is from Edmond and attended Deer Creek High School, is the top-rated punter in the MIAA and stands as one of the best in the country. He's averaging 46.9 yards per punt, which ranks No. 1 in the conference. That average would also rank No. 2 in the NCAA, however, Miller doesn't meet the minimum standards to be considered.

The NCAA statistics requires a minimum of 3.6 punts per game and participation in 75 percent of a team's contests. Miller has only punted 10 times this season, an average of 2.5 per game. So while he has played in all four games, he does not appear in the national punter rankings because UCO's offense hasn't given him enough opportunities.

Central Oklahoma is 4-0 this season and ranked No. 17 in both the AFCA Top 25 and the D2Football.com Top 25. The Bronchos are on the road in Week 5, playing at Missouri Southern Saturday afternoon. Kickoff from Joplin, Mo. is scheduled for 2 p.m.
