Bronchos Fall In Double OT Thriller

Central Oklahoma Drops 102-99 Instant Classic At Rogers State

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Central Oklahoma played in-state rival Rogers State to a thrilling double overtime MIAA road game Thursday night but a the Bronchos came out on the wrong side of a 102-99 contest.
 
Central Oklahoma fell to 18-9 on the season and 10-9 in the MIAA.
 
"We played such a great game tonight, you hate to lose those," UCO head men's basketball coach Bob Hoffman said. "That was a tough game, a physical game, but we had a chance and we didn't get it done."
 
Jaden Wells scored a career-high 38 points on 9 of 18 shooting, hitting a pair of 3-pointers. He made and shot a career-high 18 of 21 free-throws in the game. He also had five rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
 
Down by three with 30 seconds left, UCO had the last chance. Jalyn Turner missed a floater in the lane that would have cut the lead to one point but Wells got the offensive rebound, took a dribble to the left wing, and missed a would-be game-tying 3-pointer. Evan Barber then got another offensive rebound, but was stripped away by the defender as time was expiring.
 
Rogers State, which was one game in front of UCO for fifth place in the league standings, improved to 15-10 on the year and 12-7 in the MIAA.
 
UCO has three games left in the regular season, beginning Saturday at Northeastern State. The Bronchos host Northwest Missouri and Newman next week.
 
Thursday night, Central Oklahoma and Rogers State went at it in an instant classic heavyweight fight. There were 10 lead changes and the game was tied 21 times. UCO led for 19:09 and RSU led for 19:16 of the game.
 
Wells poured in his career high. Luke Haasl and Caiden Punt both scored 15 points in the game, and Turner added 11 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocked shots.
 
Matthew Willenborg scored nine, Majok Majouk scored six, and Danquez Dawsey added five points.
