CLEVELAND, Ohio – Following the most successful fall in school history, the University of Central Oklahoma is ranked 17th in the first Learfield Directors' Cup standings of the 2024-25 academic year.
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
Central Oklahoma has already earned 176 points. Grand Valley State leads Division II with 331 total points. Wingate (283.5), Colorado State Pueblo (282.5), Cal Poly Pomona (267) and Colorado School of Mines (248) round out the top five.
Central Oklahoma received 73 points for volleyball, 53 for football, and 50 for women's soccer. UCO is the highest ranked MIAA team at 17th. Pittsburg State is ranked 25th.
The Broncho volleyball team posted a 33-3 record and won the Central Region championship to make the national quarterfinals. UCO's football team went 11-2 and made the regional semifinals, as did the soccer team, which went 12-7-4 this fall.
UCO is already in the middle of winter sports. The Central wrestling team has won 26 consecutive duals and is currently ranked No. 2 in the country as it seeks a third straight national championship. UCO's basketball squads and Indoor Track & Field squads are also competing to contribute more points for the Cup standings.
The winter standings will be released in early April. The final Learfield Directors' Cup standings are announced following the completion of all championships in the summer.
Central Oklahoma's best finish was fourth place in 1996-97.
